PANTAGES THEATER SOUND SYSTEM WAS AWFUL SO BLARRINGLY LOUD

The concert was awful. Just awful because you could not enjoy a concert you could not hear. So loud you did not hear Bob sing or play. Just speaker roaring

TERRIBLE!

Like many of the reviews here, I am not a huge Dylan fan, but when I learned he was performing here in Bend, OR, on June 27, 2022, I decided to take my husband. Partially because I grew up in the ’60s and enjoyed his music then, and partly because I missed seeing Paul McCartney, my all-time favorite musician. What a disappointment this was! I paid for better seats hoping we could see and hear him. Unfortunately, it was a waste of time and money. Dylan and his band came on stage and, without a word, started playing. His gravely voice and mumbled words, along with the loud music, made it impossible to understand any of his words. It was an embarrassment for him and the audience. He never said a word to the audience; it felt like we were sitting in on a jam session, and they didn't know there was an audience. Add to that the hassle of bringing a phone to get in with a digital ticket and then being required to put the phone in a locked pouch! The lousy performance was like adding insult to injury. We left after an hour of waiting for a song we could recognize, but that never happened. The only redeeming thing was spending a beautiful summer night outside in Bend! If you are reading reviews to decide if you should invest your precious time and money to see Dylan, I suggest you stay home; I wish I had read these before wasted mine!

SAVE YOURSELF WHILE YOU STILL CAN

Just witnessed Bob Dylan in Boise. It was the worst show I have seen in my lifetime. Without the pause in between songs, it would have been one long series of random thoughts. Felt sorry for the parents bringing their children to see this legend and to be so disappointed. Please refund my money. Save yourself - do not go....

ONE AND DONE

It was great to be in the same room as the legend. If I knew the entire concert was going to be as bad as it was, I would have left after the first song. Especially since they all sounded the same. You had a great run Robert

ROUGH AND ROWDY WAYS

Spent $411 for each of two seats. Hadn't seen Dylan before so wanted to experience him live. Unfortunately, I wasn't sure he was alive and someone should sue him for using the title "Rough & Rowdy Ways". As detailed in a previous review of this show, I wasn't convinced I was seeing Bob Dylan. No joke! From the 8th row the stage was ruefully dark and he seemed to be holding himself up by holding on to what I think was a spinnet piano. I couldn't even make out his face clearly from row 8. I kept telling myself out of a desire to believe it must be me and that perhaps Dylan was going to suddenly bring up the lights and the band would become rough and rowdy and what was more of a recital in a rest home than a concert given by a poet laureate. I feared for his health and finally surrendered to the belief this was a funeral for someone who had to be inserted on to the stage via computerized special effect. No apology here. I don't mean from Dylan, I mean from me.

WORST CONCERT EXPERIENCE EVER

I always felt Dylan was over-rated, so I wasn't expecting much when I was dragged to see one of his shows. He exuded no joy or enthusiasm during this "performance." He never once engaged with the audience; in fact, he often had his back to us. His "voice" (for what it is) was sometimes whiny and grating. Other times he just mumbled and often forgot his own lyrics. He performed for less than an hour. He did not do an encore in spite of the crowd begging him to (I was actually relieved he didn't). I've been a live music performer for almost as long as Dylan and never once made ONE of these mistakes nor acted with such inconsideration toward my audience. I honestly can't believe so many people hold Dylan in such high esteem. I really think he just got lucky coming on to the folk scene at the right place and right time. But instead of being grateful and humbled by his undeserved success, during interviews he appears haughty and unappreciative, which is an even bigger turn-off for me. As the old saying goes, "there's no accounting for taste."
