Why see Opera Omaha - Last Dream of Frida and Diego?
THE FINAL WISH TO SEE A LOST LOVE
The Last Dream of Frida and Diego, or "El Ultimo Sueno De Frida Y Diego", is a new opera composed by the Grammy award-winning artist Gabriela Lena Frank, in collaboration with librettist Nilo Cruz. With a cast led by Stephanie Sanchez (playing Frida Kahlo) and Levi Hernandez (playing Diego Rivera), the story of love, death, and El Dios de los Muertos is told in a way like no other.
What's it about?
Artist Diego Rivera still mourns the loss of his wife, Frida Kahlo, three years on. Bereft and unable to create, he seeks to bring her back for El Dios de los Muertos, to have one final moment with her before he passes on. A story fraught with love and sorrow, sure to pull on your heartstrings and leave no dry eye in the house.
